Living with Cerebral Palsy
Living with Cerebral Palsy is an enlightening journey of challenges and opportunities. I’m Peter Turner and life has been a journey of those challenges and opportunities.
My life with CP began after becoming lodged in the birth canal on my way into the world. The trauma of those split seconds without oxygen has sent me on this distinct path.
We live in a physical world that was not designed for individuals with Cerebral Palsy. As a result, we perform tasks differently from those around us without a disability. This inescapable fact has me constantly looking for alternate methods to perform some everyday tasks. The beauty of looking for those alternate methods leads to conclude: Cerebral Palsy teaches us problem solving skills from an early age. Cerebral Palsy, as a result, becomes an important teacher in our lives. The disability provides many valuable lessons teaching us patience, persistence and adaptability. Understanding the journey with CP provides strength, instilling the perseverance to never quit.
